The new ES Series was designed from the ground up to deliver the very latest technology advantages, all in a small, sleek design – you’ll appreciate the advantages from the very first measurement.

Featuring a class leading EDM unit, the ES is able to measure up to 4,000m to standard prisms, and can measure in reflectorless mode up to 500m at an incredible 3mm + 2ppm accuracy.

Measurements are carried out faster than ever, and at 15mm (over 30m), the bright red laser dot pinpoints features with ease. Download brochure here.

Mobile GIS Mapping System Built for Any Accuracy Requirement

A 72 channel dual frequency L1/L2 GPS receiver with an integrated cellular modem, the GRS-1 is an all-encompassing solution that grows and adapts with your project requirements. It can be used to dial up to a local reference station network for real-time corrections. No extra cell phone hardware is required. Use an external L1 antenna for real-time subfoot work. An external L1/L2 antenna is available for “GIS-RTK” (<5cm) work. Having a variety of accuracy capabilities available depending on the configuration of the unit makes the GRS-1 perfect for any GIS application including high accuracy projects such as utility infrastructure, underground electric and gas, water/wastewater, asset management, and land records management. There is no need to buy multiple products for multiple accuracies. The ability to dial up to a server while in the field allows users to upload and download GIS data directly to and from the database saving time and allowing for more immediate, detailed information.

The GRS-1 integrates an internal 2 megapixel autofocus digital camera to snap descriptive digital photographs. These photographs are automatically linked to GIS features so that no photo file manipulation is needed after the field work is complete. With 256MB of SDRAM and an 806MHz processor, the GRS-1 provides the fastest handheld performance on the market. It is loaded with memory (1GB Flash), but if needed, users can easily increase the memory for photo storage, maps or field data files by sliding an SD Memory card into the slot on the bottom of the GRS-1. With the GRS-1 the amount of detailed, accurate information that can be collected and stored is incredible. When combined with the lightweight small size of the system, the result is unprecedented.

Geoclean processing software is provided with the IP-S2 system to convert the output files generated during data collection into data that can be viewed and utilized in other software applications. Post-processing of GNSS data can be performed by obtaining observation log files from a GNSS receiver set up near the site or from a GNSS reference station site. Point clouds from the laser scanners can be viewed and exported from Geoclean for use with GIS and CAD software programs.

Integrated Positioning System

Topcon’s IP-S2 HD Mobile Mapping System overcomes the challenges of mapping linear features to a high level of accuracy. Accurate vehicle positions are obtained using three redundant technologies: a dual frequency GNSS receiver establishes a geospatial position; an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) tracks vehicle posse; and connection to external wheel encoders obtains odometry information. These three technologies work together to sustain a highly accurate 3D position for the vehicle even in locations where satellite signals can be blocked by obstructions such as buildings, bridges, or tree lines.

IP-S2 HD Mapper Components

The IP-S2 HD Mapper features a rotating LiDAR sensor with 64 internal lasers that capture targets up to a range of 100 meters. The sensor’s 360 horizontal field of view provides full coverage of scan areas with a 30 vertical field of view to minimize laser shadowing. A six-lens digital camera system produces 360 degree spherical images at user-defined time or distance intervals. Five optional single-frame cameras can be added for focused, forward-facing views. Topcon’s High Density HD Mapper system produces the highest-density point cloud available in mobile mapping systems today.

Software

Spatial Collect software is supplied with the IP-S2 systems to control data collection operations. The vehicle operator can clearly see his path and on a geographic map. Spatial Collect also provides status information about all system components.

Geoclean Workstation integrates data from the inertial measurement unit (IMU), the GNSS receiver, and the wheel encoders of IP-S2 systems. GPS post processing with local base or reference station data can be performed for high-accuracy trajectory computation.

Spatial Factory software features viewing, analysis, measurement, and extraction tools that are used with processed point cloud and image data. Spherical images provide instant visual recognition of features to be mapped and 3D point clouds provide accurate geospatial feature location.

The IP-S2 HD Mapper provides fast, high accuracy, high density data and dynamic imaging for any linear mapping project. The vehicle-mounted system collects data at normal roadway travel speeds. Safety is improved by removing data collection personnel from vehicular travel areas.

Applications include:

Roadway Asset Management

Power Transmission and Distribution

Telecommunications

Pipelines

Railways

Homeland Security

Disaster Management
